So I’ve been lazing around for most of the day today. There’s not much else to do so i figured why not. I was getting really into this Lifetime movie “Dawn Anna.” I’ve seen it before but it’s really good so every time I watch it I lose track of everything else that’s going on. Well, this storm started developing off to the north while I was watching this movie. After I peeled myself off the couch to eat dinner, I noticed that the sky was starting to get dark. Not just gray but really dark. It took all of my effort to sit through dinner and help with dishes. Immediately after we were done I grabbed my phone and bolted outside.
The skies were not only dark, but almost ominous looking. I got started looking at this really nasty looking cumulonimbus cloud. It was moving eastward, but almost looked like part of it was rotating. It wasn’t, but of course I still watched it like a hawk. I’m not 100% because I didn’t have a Doppler in front of me, but I’m almost positive that I watched two cells converge right above me. It was so awesome.
By this time I was walking between three different spots on our farm, just trying to get different views of the storm. I was just starting to walk to the southeastern corner of the farm to get a picture of this anvil in the sky when it started to pour
And of course, the anvil was gone by the time it quit raining. Y’all, I’ve never seen an anvil in person before, so I was pretty fucking excited. I wanted to be out chasing so badly, but it seems like all of the really good storms worth chasing are always off in Iowa somewhere. Bummer, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes I guess.
I started digging into “Walk This Way” tonight. I’ve only gotten halfway through the prologue and I’ve already learned a little bit. Hehe. I’m excited to get to the chapter with Steven Tyler’s biography.
